JONAS, Mary E.
age 85 of Miami Twp. passed away Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Walnut Creek Nursing
Center. She was born August 1, 1923 in Butler, TN., the daughter of the late Landon & Ida
(Mahaffey) Boling. Mrs. Jonas was retired from Frigidare and a Life Member of the
O.E.S., Jacob Eby Chapter. Preceded in death by her husband John P. Jonas in 1987, 2
brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include her daughter, Lynn Ashley, her brother Charled
Boling, 3 grand children, 4 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. O.E.S. services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at
11:00 A.M. in the Swart Funeral Home, West Carrollton. Burial Hillgrove Cemetery. The
family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the
funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the O.E.S. Jacob
Eby Chapter in her memory.
HINTERMEISTER, Ophal LaVon
age 93 of Centerville, formerly of West Carrollton, passed away Thursday, February 26,
2009 at Bethany Lutheran Village. She was born July 5, 1915 in Dayton, the daughter of
the late Solomon and Reesie (Hixson) Mullenix. Mrs Hintermeister was a member of
Jacobn Eby O.E.S. where she was a Past Worthy Matron, a Past Grand Representative
of Ohio to Maryland, as well as a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a retired
employee of Delco. Preceded in death by her husbands, Edward M. Armstrong in 1975,
Alfred A. Hintermeister in 1993 and a son Jerry Armstrong in 2005. Survivors include
her son Jim Armstrong and his wife Barbara of Centerville, her daughter Ann Kuhlmann
and husband Alfred of Monroe, her brother Jack Mullenix and wife Jackie of Kettering,
5 grandchildren, Jerry Michael Armstrong, Michelle Armstrong-Keene, Tonya
Armstrong, Angelena Ruskin, Amanda Jennings, 6 great grandchildren and a special
neice Nancy Matthews and husband Rev. Larry. Funeral services will be held on
Saturday, March 7, 2009, at 12 Noon from the Swart Funeral Home, W. Carrollton. Rev.
Richard Faust officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on
Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A Order of
Eastern Star service will be conducted at 11:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial

HAMMOND, William Edgar
age 77 of Dayton passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2009. William was a United
States Navy Veteran proudly serving during the Korean War, he was a lifetime member
of the D.A.V., and a member of VFW Post # 3438 in West Carrollton. He retired from
DESI with 33 years of service and was the former owner of Blair's Lounge. William
was a Past Master of West Carrollton Lodge # 737, Past High Priest of Friendship
Chapter # 245, Royal Arch Masons, Past Illustrious Master of Adoniram Council # 131,
Royal & Select Masons, Past Commander of Valley Commandery # 80, Knights
Templar, member of Ohio Priory # 18, Knights of the York Cross of Honour and
member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. William is Survived by his daughters
and sons_in_law; Pat (Jerry) Sanders, Angie (John) Roberts; sons and daughters-in-law;
Robert (Portia), Gerald, Daniel(Teresa); 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 1
great-great grandson; brothers Silas(Sharon) Hammond, Charles(Pat) Hammond;
mother of his children Marge Hammond; and numerous other family members and
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Silas & Mallie Jane Hammond; second
wife; Judith Hammond; and brother, Ernest Lee Hammond. Funeral services will be held
at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South
Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd. Internment will follow the service at Highland Memorial
Cemetery in Miamisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on
Wednesday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Masonic Services at 7:45 P.M..

JONES, Walter Lee, age 77 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010.
Walter was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Hester Lowe; his grandmother,
Nancy Lowe; and by two brothers, Douglas & Lynn. Walter is survived by his wife of
the past 55 years, Anna Pearl Jones;two daughters, Eulondia & her husband, Gary
Blakeman, and Eurondia & her husband Bill Barto; six grandchildren, Sabrina, Cheryl,
Euvondia, Eusondia & Charles; three great grandchildren, Ava, Kellan and Trevianna;
two brothers, William & Paul Jones; and by his extended family and many good friends.
Walter was a member of and very active with the Fairview Baptist Church where he
served as a Deacon. He retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. During
the Korean Conflict Walter served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of
Brookville Lodge # 596, F. & A.M.; Jacob Eby # 571 O.E.S.; Scottish Rite, Valley of
Dayton and the Antioch Shrine. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
Friday (1/8) at Newcomer Funeral Hone, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Funeral
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday with Rev. Dr. Richard Donovan Officiating.
